I have been in an absolute sewing slump this week. I haven't sewn a stitch. Life has been so busy, and I am tired at the end of the day. Really, really tired. We have been watching a lot of Netflix Instant this past week. North and South and Bleak House- two of our favorites. We watched both of these a couple years ago, but they are sooo good. It has been fun watching them again.
However, last Friday I did finish up the last of my Summer Sampler blocks! I am pleased on the whole with how these turned out. This was such a fun quilt-a-long. I learned how to paper piece and stretched my skills quite a bit. I loved having a new block to look forward to every few days as well.
This last block, The Kansas Dust Storm, took me over five hours to make! Just for one block! Luckily, I am really pleased with how it turned out. ;0p
The only block I did differently is that I switched the Six Pointed Star for this block, The Building Block. I was in a not thinking mode that day, and I wanted something easy. I think it blends in nicely because there are a lot of stars in this quilt, and I think it helps balance out the Greek Cross a bit.
And then there is one of my great "helpers". I have to distract him with toys and run into the room to try to take pictures before he notices I am gone because this little guy follows me everywhere.
It will be a beautiful quilt! I love all the blocks.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose and I really like the Building Block. I'm amazed at all that paper piecing. I hope to have the attentions span and patience and time soon to try it!
ReplyDeleteYour helper is adorable by the way :)
meg your blocks are just stunning what a marvellous job you have done.
ReplyDeleteI really love your color combos with this one!
ReplyDeleteI've been on a BBC Costume drama kick myself lately too, with North & South, Cranford, and Wives & Daughters. Will have to check out Bleak House next. :-)
Ok hon...I'm glad to hear you are in a slump bc I can't believe all the projects you do finish!! It's amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks looks GREAT! To sash or not to sash? I've got to finish mine - I am about 3 blocks behind!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look really good!! Are those shows TV dramas that continue every episode?
ReplyDeleteoh man i love your colors!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love the colors and I agree with you about the building block block. Break up the stars a bit.
ReplyDeletei love your color choices and the prints mixed in. looks like your helper likes an action shot ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous color choices, I really like how the orange blends in but adds that "pop" that brings the quilt to life! Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteAll the blocks are so beautiful! I love them! And, yes, the colors are bold and perfect! Great work!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! You have used a color combo that I love and have wanted to try in a quilt. You piecing is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHello Meg,
ReplyDeleteI often check your blog and I just realised that the block on the right corner closest to the bottom is the block that I've been looking for for quite some time now. I'm European living in Europe and I haven't been able to find this particular block here (quilting is not as big here as in the US) and I'am not experienced enough to figure out how to make it myself. If you could tell me where I could find a pattern (template?) for this particular block I would be so grateful! (Maybe in Judy Hornet's book? The one you recommend).
Thank you and all the best,
Cilla
Oh no, I meant the LEFT corner. Sorry!!
